On-line courses

At Malardalen University we offer a range of interesting and relevant international on-line courses in Environmental Engineering. Here we present all our courses on advanced level (second cycle). All courses are given on-line without any physical meetings at university. There are 7,5 credit courses and some shorter, 2,5 hp courses. All courses are given at half speed, i.e. 50%.

Eligibility

All courses on advanced level in Environmental have the following eligibility requirements: Engineering 120 credits of which 90 credits engineering or natural science and 7,5 credits mathematics. In addition Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English B/ English 6 are required. In cases where the course is given in English, exemption from the Swedish B/Swedish 3 is given.

Air quality (MTK309) 7,5 hp Autumn semester 2019, week 36 – 45

Decreased air quality as an effect of industrial development and improved living standards is a growing problem in many parts of the world. The course provides knowledge about the composition of the atmosphere, dissemination, transport, deposition of air pollutants, as well as their effects on health. Methods for evaluation of air quality and control of pollutants from vehicles and stationary point sources are investigated.

Ambient air pollution kills more than 4,2 million people every year. Growing populations, increased urbanization, and improved living conditions are important factors that contribute to increased air pollution. In this course you will learn about the most common air pollutants and their emission. You will learn how to monitor, assess and model the distribution of air pollution, and how to control emissions from motor vehicles and stationary sources. We will also discuss regulations and policies for ambient air quality with focus on regulations in EU and Sweden.

Here you can watch a video with Patrik introducing this course.

Climate Change and Energy: Past, Present and the Future (MTK314) 2,5 hp Spring semester 2021

Climate change is affecting all life on Earth. Though the majority of research indicates a substantial human contribution to climate change, decision makers are still hesitant to implement actions that significantly reduce the human impact. It is essential to understand the causes and consequences of climate change in order to mitigate and adapt to its effect. This course gives you in-depth knowledge about past and present climate and how it has been affected by our energy system You will learn how climate is monitored and modelled allowing us to predict future climate. The course also addresses policy, agreements and actions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
